This Privacy Policy explains what information MoonToMars (moontomars.space) collects when you visit the site, how we use it, and what choices you have. MoonToMars is an independent editorial site about the space industry.

What this site is

moontomars.space is a publicly readable website. You do not need an account to read articles. Public commenting is turned off. We do not sell products on this site and we do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may process:

  • Server and security logs. Like most websites, our host and CDN may automatically receive technical data such as IP address, browser type, device/OS hints, referring URL, pages requested, and timestamps. This is used to operate, secure, and debug the site.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-46XG06QJNG) to understand aggregate traffic (for example which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from). Google may set cookies or similar identifiers and process data under its own terms. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics opt-out.
  • Newsletter / email (optional). If you subscribe via the on-site signup, we collect the email address you submit (and related signup metadata). Email is handled with Brevo (Sendinblue). See Brevo’s Privacy Policy. You can unsubscribe via the link in any newsletter email.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive whatever you include in that message so we can reply.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential operation and security (including cookies or tokens set by our CDN/security provider, Cloudflare, and by WordPress for logged-in site administrators only).
  • Analytics via Google Analytics 4, as described above.
  • Newsletter tooling if you interact with the Brevo signup or related scripts.

We do not run a separate cookie-consent banner today. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; some site features (especially analytics measurement) may not work as intended if you do.

Hosting and third parties

The site is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure and fronted by Cloudflare for performance and basic bot/abuse protection. Content may load resources from third parties (for example map tiles, fonts, CDN scripts, or embeds). Those parties process data under their own policies when their services load.

Articles may link to or embed content from other websites. Those sites are not controlled by us; their privacy practices apply when you follow a link or load an embed.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • operate, maintain, and secure moontomars.space;
  • understand what content is useful (analytics);
  • send newsletters only if you subscribed;
  • respond to emails you send us;
  • comply with law or protect the site against abuse when necessary.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers that help run the site (currently including Google for hosting/analytics, Cloudflare for CDN/security, and Brevo for email if you subscribe), or when we believe disclosure is required by law or needed to protect the site or users from serious harm or abuse.

Retention

Analytics and log data are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above (Google Analytics retention follows the setting in our GA4 property; server/CDN logs typically roll on a short operational schedule). Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe or we delete the list entry. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your request.

Your choices

  • Use browser controls to block cookies or third-party scripts.
  • Use Google’s Analytics opt-out tools linked above.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the email footer.
  • Email us to ask what data we hold about you from a direct interaction (for example a newsletter signup or an email you sent), or to request deletion of that data where we can reasonably do so.

If you are in the EEA/UK and believe GDPR rights apply to you, email us and we will handle the request in good faith to the extent it applies to this site’s processing.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you have seen the revised policy.
